PH wagi ng silver sa Fiba Asia 3×3

NAGKASYA sa silver medal ang Philippine basketball youth team sa Fiba Asia 3×3 Under-18 Championship at Cyberjaya, Selangor in Malaysia pero nakakuha pa rin ito ng slot para sa world championship.
Matapos na malusutan ang Malaysia sa semifinals ay nabigo ang mga Pinoy laban sa mga mas matatangkad na Qatar team, 21-9, sa boys championship match.
Gayunman, ang Qatar at Pilipinas ay parehong uusad sa Fiba 3×3 U18 World Championships na gaganapin sa Chengdu, China sa susunod na taon.
Tinapos ng Qatar ang torneyo na walang talo sa pitong laro kabilang ang dalawang panalo laban sa palabang Philippine team.
Nakarating ang mga Pinoy sa finals matapos na biguin ang Malaysia, 21-20, sa tulong ng game-winning jumper mula kay John Lloyd Clemente.
Ang iba pang miyembro ng Philippine team ay sina John Martin Galinato, Rhayyan Amsali at Kyle Christian Tan. Ang mga coach ay sina Anton Altamirano at Mark Solano.
Tinalo rin ng Pilipinas ang Indonesia sa quarterfinal round, 21-16.
Hindi naman pinalad ang girls team ng Pinas na natalo sa lahat ng apat nilang laban.
Ang girls team ay binubuo nina Kristine Cayabyab, Mary Ann Cayabyab, Jenilyn Gamboa at Cristel Mae Dizon. —Angelito Oredo
