Guiao: Pagcor, PCSO kulang ang ibinibigay sa PSC
IPINASA ni Pampanga 1st District Rep. Joseller “Yeng” Guiao Martes ng umaga sa Korrte Suprema ang Petition for Mandamus laban sa Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) at Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) hinggil sa hindi pagtupad ng dalawang ahensiya sa obligasyon nito sa Philippine Sports Commission (PSC).
Ayon kay Guiao, aabot ng P4 bilyon ang dapat pang matanggap ng PSC mula 2010 hanggang 2015.
Kasama ni Guiao sina Atty. Avelino Guzman Jr. at Executive Office Ramon Navarra Jr. nang isinumite nito ng petisyon sa Supreme Court.
“We are not just doing it for the Philippine Sports Commission, or the national athletes but for the Philippine sports in general, this is for our youth, the next generation of our athletes and the grassroots and the future of sports,” ani Guaio.
Dagdag pa ni Guaio, na vice-chairman ng House Committee on Youth and Sports, maliwanag na nakasaad sa Section 26 ng RA 6847 o Philippine Sports Commission Act of 1990 ang pagbibigay mandato sa Pagcor na magbigay ng 5% ng gross income nito sa PSC.
“That is the original intention of the law,” sabi ni Guiao na inamin na madalas napag-uusapan ang batas sa Kongreso kapag napag-uusapan ang pondo para sa PSC. “Congress expect the law is followed, but our lawmakers are really surprised that it is not followed,” sabi pa ni Guaio.
Imbes na ibigay ang 5% ay ibinaba pa ng gaming agency ang kontribusyon sa 2.1375% ng gross income nito mula pa noong 1993.
