NCRPO: EDSA 30 peaceful

Idineklara ng pulisya na “generally peaceful” ang paggunita sa ika-30 anibersaryo ng EDSA People Power Revolution sa kabila ng rally na nauwi sa tulakan sa kanto ng Ortigas Ave.

“Generally peaceful ‘yung celebrations… Meron lang protesters kanina sa may POEA, they requested na makapag-program sila,” sabi ni Dir. Joel Pagdilao, direktor ng National Capital Region Police Office.

Ayon sa police official, humigit-kumulang 700 militante mula sa Bayan Muna na pinamunuan ni Renato Reyes, Gabriela, at iba pang grupo ang nagtipun-tipon malapit sa Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.

Nauwi sa tulakan ang eksena dakong ala-1 ng hapon dahil plano ng mga militante na makapag-rally sa kalapit na EDSA Shrine.

Naganap ito ilang oras matapos ang pangunahing programa, na ginanap sa People Power Monument sa kanto ng White Plains Ave. mula alas-6 ng umaga.

“Wala namang nasaktan, walang untoward incident, kasi sa atin (mga pulis) naman kasi ay maximum tolerance,” ani Pagdilao.

“Pinayagan” ding mag-rally ang mga militante sa kanilang puwesto at pasado alas-4 ay kusa na ring nag-disperse ang mga ito, ayon sa police official.
