2 patay, 5 sugatan sa landslide sa Kennon Road, Baguio City

Dalawang tao ang nasawi habang lima pa ang nasugatan nang matabunan ng landslide ang dalawang sasakyan sa bahagi ng Kennon Road na sakop ng Baguio City kahapon (Lunes) ng umaga, ayon sa mga awtoridad.

Dead on arrival sa ospital si Marjorie Magsino, 33, habang ang 61-anyos na si Teresita De Guzman ay binawian ng buhay alas-11:40 habang nilulunasan, sabi ni Andrew Alex Uy, direktor ng Office of Civil Defense-Cordillera, sa kanyang ulat.

Sugatan naman aniya sina Phing De Guzman, 40, ng Malasiqui, Pangasinan; Ernesto Luis, 48, ng La Trinidad, Benguet; Jun Eric Sumyo, 23, at Eugenio Henry, 45, kapwa ng Urdaneta City; at Mary Jane Lovino, 32, ng Itogon.

Dinala ang mga sugatan sa Baguio City General and Medical Center at Saint Louis University Hospital.

Naganap ang landslide sa bahagi ng Kennon Road na nasa Wabac, Camp 7, dakong alas-8:30 ng umaga, ani Uy.

Natabunan ng landslide at mga puno ang isang puting Toyota 4D van (AAK-9898) at pampasaherong jeep (AYK-824), sabi ni Chief Superintendent Isagani Nerez, direktor ng Cordillera regional police.

Nagpakalat ng tauhan ang iba-ibang unit ng Baguio City Police para alisin ang mga nahulog na lupa’t bato, at pangasiwaan ang daloy ng trapiko sa lugar, aniya.

Pinaniniwalaan na ang landslide ay dulot ng mga pag-ulang dala ng habagat, na pinalakas ng magkasunod na bagyong “Egay” at “Falcon,” sa hilagang Luzon.

“Due to enhanced southwest monsoon or ‘yung habagat… Continuous rains saka may nagco-construct, may ongoing po kasing construction sa area, parang clearing,” sabi ni Ivy Carasi, tagapagsalita ng OCD-Cordillera nang kapanayamin sa telepono.
