Paghuhubad ni ELMO tinilian ng fans; JULIE ANNE waging-wagi sa halikan

Just One Summer ng GMA Films madrama pero may kilig  

CERTAINLY, the fans of Julie Anne San Jose and Elmo Magalona will be surprised at their idols’ first movie “Just One Summer”.

Finally, na-“encounter” na namin ang mga fans ng JuliElmo in a different way – not in Twitter or in mall shows but in a movie premiere.

We’ve seen fans and we’ve seen fans pero ang supporters ng JuliElmo, tumatalon sa mga silya nila, may kasamang sigaw at palakpak and those na hindi makakatiis, tatayo at magsasayaw kasi kinilig sila.

Are they the better fans? Let’s wait and see today when the movie opens nationwide after that Monday premiere nga sa SM Megamall with most of the movie’s stars present.

Nyel (Elmo), the Manila rich boy, will continue his medical study abroad pero kailangan ng consent ng ama niyang si Dan (Joel Torre) dahil wala pa siya sa legal age. His mother, Dra. Irene (Alice Dixson) wants her application for annulment signed by Dan so may request si Dan sa mag-ina: let Nyel stay in his farm for the summer and he will sign both.

But Nyel hates his father dahil sa pagkakaalam niya, iniwanan sila ng ama nila for the farm.

Beto (Julie Anne) is the provincial girl who has high ambition but unable to attain it like a scholarship na akala ng buong pamilya at kababayan niya ay nakuha niya kaya sa araw ng pagbabalik niya sa probinsiya – may pahanda agad ang ama niyang si Berting (Boboy Garrovillo) and lola (Ms. Gloria Romero) so mas lalo niyang hindi nasabi ang totoo but to her friend (Sheena Halili).

Gumawa siya ng paraan na makaipon ng pang-tuition at nangutang siya kay Dan whose request naman is bantayan ang anak na si Nyel.

We expected a very light romance story and we got that naman but much, much more we don’t know if this is good or not.

The fans waiting for kilig-kiligan scenes of Julie Anne and Elmo will not be disappointed, promise namin ‘yan.

And yes, “naghalikan” sila as in lips-to-lips so better watch and wait for this one. Plus, the “hubad” moments of Elmo na kahit hindi pa ganu’n kaganda ang kanyang katawan, e, talagang natilian ang fans.

Those waiting for wisecracks, napakarami rin, fortunately mostly from Julie Ann, who can deliver a joke deadpan like yung paghahanap ng bakang may 40 dede para mas maraming gatas na makuha was so flawlessly delivered natawa talaga kami.

Kaso, “Just One Summer” is 50 percent kilig romance and 50 percent heavy family drama that kept pulling the loveteam in situations na dapat hindi sila ipinasok.

Napuputol ang kilig moments dahil it’s in between heavy drama.

And believe us, the drama is complicated kahit kami hindi namin maintindihan.

Ayaw pirmahan ni Joel ang annulment paper kay Alice pero siya ang may kabit, si Cherry Pie Picache.

Mabuti na lang, Julie Anne can carry the drama with ease and she can actually carry not just the loveteam nila ni Elmo but also the movie because of her freshness.

Whether kilig, comedy or heavy drama, wala kaming naging problema sa acting ni Julie Anne and this is very good.

It’s Elmo na may problema kami and believe us, it’s not his fault. Elmo’s role is too heavy, pang John Lloyd Cruz or Dennis Trillo heavy we tell you and we’re not exaggerating.

Ito yung tipong sumasagot sa magulang, sinasapak ang ama, hinampas ng damit ang mukha ng leading lady and all that.

No one prepared Elmo acting-wise and emotion-wise for the role and so what we saw was an 18-year-old boy, standing straight in front of the camera, declaiming.

Sana hindi muna ganito kabigat ang naging role ni Elmo and he could have survived the movie.

Good thing talaga that Julie Anne carries him sa moments and scenes nila.

Imagine Elmo along acting it out with stalwarts like Joel and Alice and Cherry Pie, nalulunod siya.

We will look forward for the next JuliElmo movie after “Just One Summer” dahil in all honesty, may potential ang movie na magpakilig just skip the heavy drama na lang siguro.

If the fans will carry and support this and it can generate a good word of mouth, for sure may chance ito sa box-office today dahil matagal-tagal na ring walang teen movie in the local showbiz.

Whatever happens though, we see a very bright future… for Julie Anne.
