DINAGIT ng Ateneo de Manila University ang kanilang ikatlong sunod na panalo sa pamamagitan ng 86-75 panalo sa University of the Philippines habang tinapos ng nagdedepensang kampeong De La Salle University ang dalawang dikit na kabiguan sa 57-55 tagumpay sa National University sa 77th UAAP men’s basketball kahapon sa SM Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.

Sa huling yugto pumukpok ang Blue Eagles para iwanan na ang palaban pero kapos pa ring Fighting Maroons upang manatiling nangunguna sa liga.

“Hirap na hirap,” wika ni Ateneo coach Bo Perasol. “They thought it’s going to be a breeze but in the end, we were able to fight it out.”

Ang rookie na si Arvin Tolentino ay may bagong career-high na 20 puntos (7/12 shooting) bukod sa walong rebounds habang sina Kiefer Ravena at Chris Newsome ay naghatid ng 19 at 18 puntos, ayon sa pagkakasunod. Si Newsome ay mayroon pang 12 boards.

Huling naka-3-0 ang Blue Eagles ay  noon pang Season 74 na kung saan umarangkada ang koponan sa 12-0 panimula.

Si Kyles Lao ay may 16 puntos para sa Fighting Maroons na natalo sa ikatlong sunod at ika-24 mula pa noong 2012.

Naghatid ng magkasunod na puntos si Jason Perkins para mapaamo ang Bulldogs na lumasap ng unang pagkatalo matapos ang back-to-back panalo.

May 14 puntos si Perkins at ang kanyang krusyal na buslo ay nagtulak sa Green Archers sa 57-53 kalamangan sa huling 6.7 segundo ng laro.
