MINABUTI ng Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) na paigsiin pa ang schedule nito sa Governors’ Cup para maagang mapakawalan ang Gilas players at makasali sila sa FIBA Asia Cup sa Wuhan, China sa Hulyo.
Hindi rin lalahok ang Gilas sa Governors’ Cup.
Ito ang napagkayarian ng PBA Board na nagpulong kahapon upang talakayin kung isasali ba o hindi ang Gilas sa ikatlong kumperensiya ng PBA bilang bahagi ng kanilang preparasyon para sa 2014 FIBA World Cup sa Spain at 2014 Asian Games sa Incheon, South Korea.
Ang FIBA Asia Cup ay nakakalendaryo mula Hulyo 11 hanggang 19 at kahit si Gilas coach Chot Reyes ay mas gusto na salihan ang nasabing kompetisyon kaysa lumahok ang koponan sa PBA.
“Coach Chot stressed that the competition the team will get in Wuhan is more suitable as compared in participating in the third conference where he will be playing teams lacking key players,” wika ni PBA commissioner Atty. Chito Salud.
Hinahanapan ngayon ng liga ng pamamaraan kung paano mapapaigsi pa ang ikatlong kumperensiya para matiyak na matatapos ang liga sa Hulyo 10.
