TILA walang kapaguran ang San Mig Coffee na tutugis sa ikaapat na sunod na panalo kontra Barako Bull sa PLDT Home TVolution PBA Commissioner’s Cup mamayang alas-8 ng gabi sa Smart Araneta Coliseum sa Cubao, Quezon City.

Ang Mixers, na nagkampeon sa huling dalawang torneo, ay may 3-0 karta matapos magposte ng panalo kontra Globalport (91-75), Barangay Ginebra San Miguel (90-80) at Rain or Shine (91-74).

Impresibo ang tagumpay kontra Elasto Painters na siyang nakatunggali ng Mixers para sa kampeonato ng nakaraang Philippine Cup. “We had a little bit of everything going for us.

We played good defense, shot well and did everything right,” ani San Mig Coffee coach Tim Cone, na siya ngayong winningest coach sa PBA. Hangad lang ni Cone na mag-ingat ang import na si James Mays kontra napakaraming fouls.

“He’s a good all-around player but he must stay out of foul trouble,” ani Cone. Si Mays ay sinusuportahan nina two-time Most Valuable Player James Yap, Marc Pingris, Peter June Smon, Joe Devance at Mark Barroca.

Ang Barako Bull ay may 1-4 record at ang tanging panalong naitala ng Energy ay kontra sa Elasto Painters, 110-106, noong Marso 9.Noong Sabado ay nakapagbigay ng magandang laban ang Barako Bull kontra sa San Miguel Beer subalit kinapos sa dulo at natalo, 106-100.

Matapos na makapagtala ng 40 o higit pang puntos sa kanyang unang dalawang laro ay tila napigilan na ang import na si Joshua Dollard na nadedepensahan na nang mabuti.

Sa sukat na  6-foot-4, si Dollard ang pinakamaliit na import sa torneo kung saan ang height limit ay 6-foot-9. Kailangan ni Dollard ng tulong buhat kina Willie Miller, Ronjay Buenafe, Dennis Miranda, Mick Pennisi at Dorian Peña.

Bukas ay tuloy ang aksyon sa Big Dome kung saan magkikita ang Rain or Shine at Meralco sa ganap na alas-5:45 ng hapon at magtutuos ang Air21 at Barangay Ginebra sa alas-8 ng gabi na main game.
