ALAM ni San Mig Coffee coach Tim Cone na walang kabuluhan ang four-game winning streak ng kanyang koponan sa paghaharap ng Mixers at defending champion Talk ‘N Text sa Game One ng best-of-three quarterfinal series ng PLDT myDSL PBA Philippine Cup mamayang alas-8 ng gabi sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.

Sa ganap na alas-5:45 ng hapon ay sisimulan din ng Petron Blaze at Barako Bull ang kanilang best-of-three na duwelo.
Masagwa ang naging simula ng Mixers sa torneo dahil sa mga injury sa key players subalit nagawa nilang humabol at tapusin ang elims sa record na 7-7.

Kabilang sa four-game winning streak sa dulo ng elims ay ang 100-87 panalo kontra Talk ‘N Text noong Enero 17.
“We hope we can keep this up,” ani Cone. “But we are up against a formidable foe. We have to keep our focus.”

Winakasan ng Talk ‘N Text ang three-game losing skid nito nang magwagi kontra sa Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 103-79, noong Linggo para sa 8-6 karta.

“It’s a good thing we managed to win again. This gives us a little bit of momentum going into the quarterfinals,” ani TNT coach Norman Black. “I just hope that I can bring in some of my regulars back into action.”

Pinatutungkulan ni Black sina Kelly Williams, Ryan Reyes, Nonoy Baclao at Harvey Carey na hindi nakapaglalaro bunga ng injury.
Ang Talk ‘N Text ay binubuhat nina Jimmy Alapag, Jason Castro, Ranidel de Ocampo at Larry Fonacier. Lalo pang lalakas ang opensiba ng Tropang Texters matapos na makuha nito si Niño Canaleta mula sa Air21 Express sa isang trade na inaprubahan ng PBA kahapon.

Nakuha ng Talk ‘N Text si Canaleta kapalit nina forward Sean Anthony at rookie guard Eliud Poligrates at isang first round pick sa 2016 PBA Rookie Draft.
