Spotlight: 3 Dekada ng Eat Bulaga

- November 05, 2011 - 02:21 PM

“I was born in April 1979; the show premiered three months later, in July,” ani Ryan, na naging host ng show dalawang taon na ang nakakaraan. “My earliest memory of the show is watching child star Aiza Seguerra.”

“I worked nights and usually got home right before dawn, but I would make sure to wake up at noon to catch ‘Eat Bulaga,’” ani Allan na nakapasok sa show noong 1995.

“Though I now work with other networks, I know that my ‘Eat Bulaga’ family will welcome me anytime,” ani Aiza.

“I used to baby-sit Keempee (anak ni Joey de Leon) and Apples (anak nina Tito Sotto at Helen Gamboa). Now every time I’m in the mall and someone calls out, ‘Tita!’ it will have to be one of the children of Tito, Vic or Joey,” ani Chiqui.

“We have lunch together everyday. From Monday to Saturday, I get to learn from the geniuses of comedy and hosting,” paliwanag ni Julia.

“Even during the tough times—the first 10 years—Tito, Vic and Joey never gave up. Even when we couldn’t pay them, they never complained,” ani Malou na nagsimula bilang production assistant ng programa nang magsi-mula ito noong 1979 sa TPN 9.

“We never imagined the program would come this far,” saad naman ni Tito. “For the past 32 years, it has evolved constantly. From a noontime variety show it has turned into a public-service program.”

Dagdag naman ni Jimmy Santos: “There’s always something new. If someone leaves, someone new joins naman.”
“We never looked at competition. We focused on our work and how we could constantly improve the show.”

Para naman kay Vic Sotto: “For me, every day is a new day. We went through some really hard times together. That was part of the growing pains.”

“Reading about the show’s beginnings reminded me of my own ‘growing-up’ years in the biz. It’s a valuable reference book for students who are doing research on the history of Philippine television.”

“My dream is to build a museum and maybe our own studio in the future.”
