5-0 start target ng Petron vs Alaska

ITATAYA ng Petron Blaze ang malinis nitong baraha sa pagharap nito sa Alaska Milk sa PLDT myDSL PBA Philippine Cup alas-5:45 ng hapon sa Smart Araneta Coliseum sa Cubao, Quezon City.

Sa unang laro sa ganap na alas-3:30 ng hapon ay magtutunggali ang Barako Bull at Air21 na kapwa naghahagad na wakasan ang kani-kanilang losing skid.

Ang Boosters ay may 4-0 record at tanging koponang hindi pa nakakatikim ng kabiguan sa kabila ng hindi paglalaro ng mga injured players na sina Alex Cabagnot, Chris Lutz, Chris Ross, Ronald Tubid at Yousef Taha.

“We only have eight players and we added one rookie. It’s just fortunate that everybody’s up to the task and stepping up,” ani Petron Blaze coach Gelacio Abanilla III.

Nasubukan ang katatagan ng Boosters nooong Miyerkules nang lamangan sila ng Barako Bull hanggang sa dulo ng third quarter. Nagtulung-tulong naman sina reigning Most Valuable Player

Arwind Santos, center June Mar Fajardo at  Marcio Lassiter sa fourth period upang magwagi ang Boosters. Si Lassiter ay gumawa ng game-high 26 puntos samantalang nagdagdag ng 15 puntos ang reserbang point guard na si Paolo Hubalde.

Dumaan naman sa ikalawang sunod na overtime game ang Alaska Milk bago napayuko ang Air21, 97-91. Bago iyon ay natalo ang Aces sa Barako Bull (97-93) at Talk ‘N Text  (114-111).

“We’re not playing to our identity because we’re playing one-on-one. We have to go back,” ani Alaska Milk coach Luigi Trillo matapos ang panalo sa Air21. “We definitely need more intensity against Petron.’’

Ang Barako Bull ay nakalasap ng kambal na kabiguan matapos simulan ang torneo sa pamamagitan ng dalawang panalo. Subalit kumpiyansa si Energy coach Bong Ramos na kaya nilang makaulit sa Air21 na tinalo nila, 88-75, noong Nobyembre 20.

Ang Barako Bull ay pinangungunahan nina two-time MVP Willie Miller, Ronjay Buenafe, JC Intal, Mark Macapagal at Mick Pennisi.

Ang Air21 ang tanging koponang hindi pa nakakatikim ng panalo at may 0-5 record. Bago nabigo sa Aces, ang Express ay natalo rin kontra SanMig Coffee, 92-83, sa double overtime.
