We admire Richard Yap for his AUDACITY to answer in a very straightforward manner the issues hurled against him. When we attended his launch as one of the endorsers of Krem-Top, the other one being Papa Jack, ay hindi namin pinalagpas ang pagkakataon na tanungin siya about rumors na nagpaparinig siya sa fans kung ano ang gusto niyang matanggap na regalo.

Clearly, siya ang tinutukoy sa blind item ng Fashion Pulis a few weeks back. “I’ve heard that and if you can go through all my tweets ay wala akong hinihingi sa kahit na kanino.

As much as possible ‘pag me nagsabi na ‘what do you want?’ ang sinasabi ko ‘you don’t need to bring anything,’” walang ka-showbiz-an na sagot ni Richard.

He also dismissed rumors na hindi siya nagpapa-picture kapag walang regalo, “I think the fans who had pictures of me would know that it’s not true.”

When we mentioned the Fashion Pulis story, naging matapang ang sumunod na pahayag ni Sir Chief.   “That guy has no credibility and I’m saying this on his face,” he said.

“I won’t waste my time on him, ‘di ba? He is supposed to be an educated person. He is from La Salle and he’s Chinese but with what he’s doing he’s bringing down the name of the institution he’s working for, his being a Chinese,” dagdag pa niya.

When we asked him kung nagkita na sila ng blogger na ‘yon, he said in a very determined tone, “I’ve  never met him and I don’t intend to (meet him). He’s not worth meeting!”

Who am I to not accept an apology but with the way ano…

People who bash other people are just reflective of what they themselves are, ‘di ba?” Nasaktan ba siya sa issue sa kanya? “You know, siguro pikon. Ang sinasabi ko lang  it’s not worth my time.”

He then went on to explain na long before showbiz beckoned, he already owns some property. “At saka lahat ng meron ako ay meron na ako nu’ng hindi pa ako pumasok ng showbiz.

‘Yung bahay ko, ‘yung mga kotse ko. Hindi ako nagba-brag. When I was still in kindergarten ay may Rolex na ako so I don’t have to ask from anyone and kaya kong trabahuhin lahat ito.

‘Yun nga ang sinasabi ko, the culture of negativity in the Philippines. Parang gusto ng tao na manira ng ibang tao to draw attention to themselves para sumikat sila.

The people who follow them ay ganoon din sila,” dagdag pa niya. Since Krem-Top is promoting Change for the better Pilipinas campaign, tinanong namin si Richard kung ano ang mga nagbago sa kanya all through these years.

“Siguro it has allowed me to become a better person, to be more patient. Nu’ng bata ako ay nagmamadali ako palagi. Parati akong on the go. I think this has helped me to have the virtue of patience, ‘di lang patience for myself but for other people also.”
