Martin Nievera at Pops Fernandez
HANDA ang Concert King & Queen na sina Martin Nievera at Pops Fernandez na magbigay ng tulong sa mga naapektuhan ng mapinsalang wildfire sa Los Angeles, California.
Nanawagan ang dating mag-asawa sa mga kapwa Filipino artists na magsama-sama at magsanib-pwersa para makalikom ng kaukulang assistance upang makapagsimula muli ang mga pamilyang Pinoy na nawalan ng bahay at kabuhayan sa LA.
Naniniwala sina Pops at Martin na malaki ang maitutulong ng Philippine entertainment industry sa mga kababayan nating nabiktima ng malawakang sunog sa California.
“All our hearts go to everybody who lost their homes, all their belongings, their memories, you know.
“I’ve received a lot of messages, there’s a lot of Filipinos as well, our fellow kababayans, who make Los Angeles or areas around Los Angeles their home for years. We’ve performed for them at least once a year,” ang pahayag ni Martin sa presscon ng pre-Valentine concert nila ni Pops na “Always & Forever” kamakalawa, January 13.

Patuloy pa ni Martin, “I hope we can all be part of the recovery. I speak on behalf of all Filipino artists who can draw in the crowd, big or small.
“We should somehow devote our next few shows to some foundation, you know, we have to be careful with those things.
“But sana someone could start some sort of foundation so we could help them at least survive while they’re trying to start again.
“We can’t build them new houses, that’s for sure. But we can help them start. So I hope we can be part of that as well,” pagbabahagi pa ng OPM legend.
Saad naman ni Pops, marami silang mga kaibigan sa LA na itinuturing na rin nilang mga kapamilya kaya talagang wasak din ang puso nila sa nangyari.
“We have been checking on them. It’s very, very sad and hopefully they can…its hard, specially when you’ve lost everything, specially memories.
“Ako nga sinasabi ko, ’yung memories that they’ve probably kept in their homes, alam mo ‘yon, ‘di na yun mababalik. But hopefully, they can (recover fast)” sabi pa ng original Concert Queen.
Samantala, muli ngang magkakasama sina Pops at Martin sa kanilang Valentine concert titled “Always & Forever,” na gaganapin sa Mall of Asia Arena sa February 7.
Magsisilbi rin itong celebration 40th anniversary ng iconic tandem ng Martin-Pops sa entertainment industry. Ayon sa former couple, ito na ang “most authentic and unforgettable show to date.”
“Hindi ito to excerpts of our other shows, this is a brand new show. Although you will hear a lot of familiar songs during our era, we are studying a lot of other new tunes.
“I’ve been studying myself in my room really trying to concentrate and learning all the new songs for ‘Always and Forever’,” ani Pops.
Sey naman ni Martin, the concert will feature songs that tell their story, “When Pops and I are onstage, we do our songs together. That’s part of our set list. We will do songs that tell our story from then and until now using the music from that era.
“The best time for me was from the eighties. Even my playlist was all from the ’80s. I never moved from that era,” ayon pa sa Concert King.
