EXCLUSIVE: Barbie Almalbis may mga pasabog sa 25th anniversary sa music industry

PUNUMPUNO ng pasorpresa ang Pinoy rock icon na si Barbie Almalbis kasabay ng kanyang 25th anniversary celebration sa music industry.
Nitong February 22 ay nagkaroon ng media conference si Barbie at doon nabigyan ng tsansa ang BANDERA na makapanayam siya ng one-on-one.
Ibinunyag ng singer sa amin na iba’t-ibang proyekto ang kanyang inihanda ngayong taon para sa fans!
Kabilang na riyan ang inaabangang reunion concert sa darating na Marso, bagong album at ilang collaboration sa ilang sikat na OPM artists.
“2023 is full of surprises, like, I’m excited for the release of my new album and then itong concert that we’re having on March 11. Tsaka ‘yung mga collaborations din na we have in store. It’s exciting,” chika ni Barbie.
Dagdag pa niya, “We’re still writing new stuff, recording and continuously making songs and we have some tours and gigs coming up that we are announcing din.”
Aminado din si Barbie na nakakaramdam din siya ng pressure lalo na’t mas dumadami ang Pinoy artist ngayon.
Gayunpaman ang kasiyahan niya sa paggawa ng musika ang nananaig kaya tumagal siya ng ilang dekada sa industriya ng musika.
Chika niya, “Of course, when you enter the music industry, suddenly may pressure ‘diba. Kailangang may maabot ka na success or kung may maabot ka ay kailangan naman na ma-sustain mo.”
“So I really feel that pressure through the years din. I guess what helps me is going back to that reason why I started music, which is for the joy of writing songs,” ani ng singer.
Dagdag pa niya, “Honestly, I couldn’t have done it without my amazing team, you know, musicians that I get to play with, write music with and produce with and always parang keep me growing also.”
“I always keep on learning with them so I’m grateful that I have great relationships with the collaborators and people who inspire me,” aniya.
Sa huli, tinanong namin si Barbie kung ano ang pinaka paborito niyang kanta mula sa mga kanta na kanyang inilabas.
Ang sagot niya ay ang “Kumpas” dahil patungkol daw ito sa kanyang buhay sa kasalukuyan.
Kwento niya, “I would say, the carrier single ‘Kumpas’, the one that features the kudlung, which is the Filipino instrument that is given to me…I wrote the song with my husband Martin and parang the theme of the song is based around Matthew 6:33…we wrote it during the time around the pandemic and things were uncertain, and it drives us to find our security and hope with God.
Aniya, “That is one of the verses that we have done during that time. So it describes, you know, my life today.”
Samantala, magkakaroon ng bonggang reunion concert si Barbie sa March 11.
Pinamagatan itong “Firewoman: 25 Years of Barbie Almalbis” na magaganap sa Mandala Park sa Mandaluyong City.
Makaka-jamming niya riyan ang mga dati niyang ka-banda na “Hungry Young Poets” at “Barbie’s Cradle.”
Bukod diyan ay magtatanghal din ang ilang sikat na OPM bands at artists, kabilang na ang Sandwich, Gab Alipe ng Urbandub, Clara Benin, I Belong To The Zoo, Kai del Rio, at Bird.
Nauna nang inamin ni Barbie sa isang pahayag na excited na siya sa kanyang upcoming concert at ito rin daw ay isang dream come true.
