It’s open to be praised or criticized. I don’t mind if they criticize it. My point is, it is not against gay.
“Yun lang naman ang point nu’n. It is against the gays daw. No, it is not. I am a storyteller. I am a filmmaker. My life journey is to look for different stories and representations for the public to understand, and for the public to learn something from.
That is not realistic. That’s romanticism.
Mali yun. May gay na magnanakaw, may gay na kriminal, may gay na nanggagahasa. Kagaya ng isang ordinaryong tao, ng lalaki at babae,” lahad ng award-winning director.
Dagdag pa niya, “Iyon ang trabaho ko. Ginawa ko yung My Father, Myself because it is based from my own personal knowledge of a real story that happened in my province.
“And I thought that it’s a very good story material to be filmed for people to learn from the mistakes of these characters in the movie.
“As a matter of fact, may nangyari doon sa gumawa ng ganoon which I will not say because that will reveal already the entire story, di ba?
“Ako, I never comment on anything as far as what the other directors are doing because for me, it is unethical. Because I am a practitioner myself.
“But that person was my assistant director before. I love him! I like him. He’s good. He’s one of my good assistant directors before and now, he has his own career.
“He specializes in LGBT-themed films and I like him for that. I do not look down on him for that. As I have said, once you put something in social media, people will criticize it, people will praise it.
