Nu’ng nakita ko na they are all welcoming me as the newest part of the family, sobrang sarap sa feeling kasi it’s another dream that is about to come true.
Kahit wala akong much experience when it comes to acting, binibigyan nila ako ng opportunity to show my skills.
Naikuwento rin ng beauty queen kung paano nagsimula ang negosasyon nila with GMA, “To be honest, even before going to the US to compete for Miss Universe, na-meet ko na si Ms. Annette Gozon.
“I had a dinner tapos nakita ko si Ms. Annette and yung ibang managers working in GMA. Parang it was a joke, in-ask pa niya ako, ‘Do you wanna try acting?’
“It was out of nowhere. Tapos sabi ko, ‘Opo.’ Nag-yes ako agad! Sabi ko, ‘Dati po nagde-declaim ako. I dont know if it counts, pero I consider that as my acting experience,” chika ng dalaga.
Pagpapatuloy niya, “When I competed in Miss Universe, parang nawala na siya sa isap ko. But right after the competition—I didn’t win—nag-message ako kay Sir Jonas Gaffud, my manager in Empire.
“Sabi niya, ‘GMA is interested about you. What are your thoughts about it?’ Sabi ko, ‘Mama J, go!
It feels the right decision.

Bong Revilla at Sanya Lopez.
Sabi ni Rabiya, “To be honest, at first, nu’ng in-offer nila yung role, I was on cloud nine for several days because it’s a big role, e. It’s a leading actress kind of role.
“For somebody like me na di pa dalubhasa when it comes to acting, they saw something in you, yun ang inisip ko kaya honored po talaga ako.
“I made a promise to myself na gagalingan ko. Not just having workshops in acting, but also trying to have that figure…I enrolled myself in boxing din para at least reading-ready tayo when we’re doing the fight scenes,” pagbabahagi pa ng beauty queen.
Ayon pa kay Rabiya, gagawin niya ang lahat para matapatan ang tiwala ng GMA sa kanya, “Actually, it’s better to fail at something because you tried than having the regret na, ‘Dapat ginawa ko.’
“I’m the type of person na risk taker talaga ako. Now, na-realize ko, ang daming nangyaring magandang bagay sa buhay ko because I took the risk. I will never be afraid. Not anymore,” sabi ng dalaga.
“Siguro pangarap. Pag bata ka, di ba? Sabi ng mama ko, I would face the mirror and I would act.
Kaya sabi ng mama ko, wala kasi akong hiya as a kid. Pag may bisita, ako pinapalabas ng mama ko to entertain visitors. So, nagamit ko siya up until now,” sabi pa ni Rabiya Mateo.
