Pumanaw na ang beteranong TV at stage director na si Al Quinn sa edad na 86.
Sa isang Instagram post, nagpaalam ang entertainment writer at manager na si Noel Ferrer kay Direk Al, na ang totoong pangalan ay Alcuin Pastrano.
“WOKE UP TO THIS SAD NEWS ABOUT TITO AL QUINN,” sabi ni Ferrer sa kanyang Instagram post, kung saan ay ipinakita nya ang mga larawan ni Quinn na kasama si Ryan Agoncillo at ang yumao na ring Comedy King na si Dolphy.
“Back in the day when I was doing writing for TV specials – awards nights, pageants, tributes, etc, I have worked with this very cool, funny and respected director we loving call Tito Al Quinn,” kwento ni Ferrer.
“REST IN PEACE TITO AL!!! Thank you for being a happy part of my 30 Years In Media!!!” dagdag pa niya.
Si Lea Salonga, sa kanyang Facebook post, ay namaalam na rin sa respetadong director.
“Rest In Peace, Tito Al Quinn. I’m thankful you were one of the directors I got to work with as a child,” wika ni Lea. “Your kindness as well as your professionalism are what I’ll always remember.”
Hindi binanggit ang dahilan ng pagpanaw ni Direk Al.
Bago niya sinabak ang mundo ng pagdidirek sa entablado at telebisyon, si Direk Al ay nagsimula muna bilang dancer at choreographer sa Manila Opera House.
Ang namayapa na ring aktor na si Pancho Magalona ang nagbigay sa kanya ng pangalang “Al Quinn.”
Kabilang sa kanyang directorial work ang “The Good Father” at “Jack and Jill and John”, na parehong ipinalabas noong 1975.
Si Direk Al ay isa ring painter. Nagtapos siya ng Fine Arts sa University of Santo Tomas.
