Tiniyak ng Miss Universe Philippines Organization na binibigyang prayoridad nito ang kalusugan at kaligtasan ng mga candidates.
Inilabas ng pageant group ang pahayag ngayong Sabado matapos na umatras sa laban ang dalawang contestants dahil nagpositibo sa Covid-19.
“We remain committed to ensuring that we follow all of the protocols and guidelines set forth by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases,” ayon sa grupo.
Sa Instagram post ngayong umaga ng Sabado, sinabi ni Vincy Vacalares na hindi na niya pwedeng ipagpatuloy ang paglahok sa prestihiyosong beauty pageant matapos na dapuan na rin siya ng nakahahawang 2019 coronavirus disease.
“With a heavy heart, allow me to break the news to all of you that I tested positive for Covid-19 last October 14. This means that I will not be able to continue with my journey to the Miss Universe Philippines crown this year,” ani Vincy.
Ikalawa na ang Cagayan de Oro beauty sa mga candidate na hindi na sasali sa Miss Universe Philippines 2020 matapos magpositibo sa Covid-19.
Noong Huwebes, si Maria Isabela Galeria, na siyang Sorsogon representative, ay nag-withdraw na rin matapos na lumabas na positibo siya sa virus.
“While it is unfortunate and heartbreaking to see some of our candidates leave the competition, we thank them for being a part of the Miss Universe Philippines family,” ayon pa sa pahayag ng organisasyon na pinamumunudan ni Shamcey Supsup-Lee.
“We salute their bravery and courage as they go through this difficult time and rest assured, we will continue to provide all of the help and support they need,” dagdag nito.
Sinabi pa ng grupo na sinisiguro nitong naalagaan ang mga candidates sa kabila ng umiiral na pandemya.
Nagaganap ang mga preliminary competition ng beauty pageant sa Baguio City, kung saan isinagawa ang filming ng preliminary interview, national costume, swimsuit, at evening gown.
Ang grand finale ay isasagawa sa Baguio Country Club sa Oktubre 25 at mapapanood sa GMA.
“We have consistently coordinated with Baguio City officials to ensure that we follow their rigorous protocols in order to preserve its status as a COVID-free city,” wika pa ng grupo.
