Dagdag proteksyon sa senior citizens umusad na

PINAPLANTSA na ng House committee on Senior Citizens ang panukala na magbibigay ng dagdag na proteksyon sa mga senior citizens laban sa pang-aabuso at karahasan.

Inaprubahan kanina ng komite ang pagsasama-sama ng walong panukala upang makabuo ng bagong batas.

Sa pagdinig, naghain ng mosyon si Quezon City Rep. Precious Hipolito-Castelo upang bumuo ng technical working group upang pag-isahin ang House Bills 65, 1313, 1504, 1753, 2212, 3696, 4406, at 5137.

Inaprubahan ito ng chairman ng komite na si Senior Citizen Party-List Rep. Francisco Datol Jr.

Si Castelo ang may-akda ng HB 3696 na naglalayong magtayo ng mga grievance desk sa bawat barangay.

Ayon naman kay ACT-CIS Rep. Niña Taduran mahalaga na maproteksyunan ang mga senior citizens.

“Our elderly nowadays need protection from abuses, discrimination, and exploitation. As they age, their health is also compromised, affecting their well-being. In recent years we have watched news how these senior citizens have been mistreated, which sometimes lead to their death…It is for these very reasons that we seriously push for the passage of the measure,” ani Taduran.

Nais ng komite na gawing isang public crime ang pang-aabuso sa mga senior citizens upang maaaring magsampa ng reklamo kahit na hindi ang biktima.

May panukala rin na taasan ang parusa sa paggawa ng krimen laban sa mga matatanda.
