Tulong sa MSMEs makababawas sa nawalan ng trabaho

ANG pagtulong umano sa mga Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises umano ang susi sa pagdami ng mga nawalan ng trabaho dulot ng epekto ng coronavirus disease 2019.

Ayon kay House Deputy Majority Leader at Bagong Henerasyon Rep. Bernadette Herrera bagamat ang MSMEs ang malubhang tinamaan ng pandemya, ito rin ang susi upang muling dumami ang trabaho sa bansa.

“The key to solving this COVID-induced unemployment problem may also lie within the MSME sector, that’s why it is important that we help them get back on their feet and save millions of jobs,” ani Herrera.

Ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) 7.3 milyong Filipino ang nawalan ng trabaho noong Abril.

“The importance of the MSME sector to the Philippine economy cannot be overemphasized. The sector employs a whopping 63 percent of the country’s total workforce,” dagdag pa ni Herrera.

Ayon sa Department of Trade and Industry hanggang noong Abril ay 52.66 porsyento ng MSMEs sa bansa ang nagsara o tumigil sa kanilang operasyon samantalang 12.55 porsyento ang may limitadong operasyon at 34.79 porsyento ang nakapagpatuloy ng kanilang operasyon.

Bago nag-adjourn inaprubahan ng Kamara de Representantes ang P1.3 trilyong Accelerated Recovery and Investments Stimulus for the Economy (ARISE) isang stimulus package. Kasama dito ang P50 bilyong loan program at P10 bilyong financial assistance sa MSMEs.

“We must act fast in providing much-needed relief to stressed MSMEs in order to stave off the dire economic effects of COVID-19, particularly this record high unemployment rate,” dagdag pa ng lady solon.

Sa datos ng PSA, noong 2018 ay MSMEs ang bumubuo sa 99.62 porsyento ng negosyo sa bansa.
