NCAA bubuksan ang Season 96 sa 2021

WALANG magaganap na aksyon sa National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) ngayong taon.

Ito ay matapos na ianunsyo ng liga Huwebes na inurong nito ang pagbubukas ng Season 96 sa taong 2021 kung saan apat na sports lamang ang ilalaro nito.

Sa pahayag na inilabas ng NCAA sinabi nito na ang Season 96 ay bubuksan sa mga unang buwan ng 2021 kung saan patuloy na naghahanap ang mundo ng lunas at bakuna kontra coronavirus (COVID-19).

Ang paglunsad ng bagong season ng NCAA ay nakasalalay naman sa desisyon ng gobyerno na siyang nagbibigay ng mga health at safety guidelines.

Ang Season 96 ay katatampukan lamang ng apat na mandatory sports na kinabibilangan ng basketball, volleyball, swimming at track and field.

Ang Letran, na nagdiriwang ng ika-400 anibersaryo nito ngayong taon, ang siyang host ng Season 96.

Plano rin ng liga na magsagawa ng online chess tournament at e-sports competition.

Biglang natapos ang Season 95 bunga ng COVID-19 pandemic at kabilang sa mga naapektuhan ay ang mga student-athletes na hindi na nakapaglaro o natapos ang kanilang huling collegiate year. Papayagan naman ng liga ang mga ito na maglaro sa Season 96 hanggat naka-enrol sila sa kani-kanilang paaralan.

“Some rules and requirements on student-athletes’ eligibility such as age, enrolment, grades, and even playing years shall be relaxed, in consideration of the disruption of the school year and major changes in the education system,” sabi ng NCAA sa kanilang pahayag.

Pirmado naman nina Rev. Fr. Victor Calvo Jr., OP, Season 96 Management Committee Chairman, at Rev. Fr. Clarence Marquez OP, Season 96 Policy Board President, ang nasabing pahayag.
