1M OFWs mawawalan ng trabaho dahil sa epekto ng COVID-19
MAHIGIT sa isang milyong overseas Filipino workers ang inaasahang mawawalan ng trabaho hanggang sa 2021.
Sa virtual hearing ng House committee on Overseas Workers’ Affairs, sinabi ni Alice Visperas, ng DOLE-International Labor Affairs Bureau (ILAB), na nasa 1,005,031 ang inaasahang mawawalan ng trabaho hanggang Disyembre ng susunod na taon bunsod ng epekto ng coronavirus disease 2019.
The sea-based OFWs are 40 percent, while the other 60 percent are land-based,” ani Visperas.
Ngayong buwan ay nasa 323,537 OFW na ang natanggal sa trabaho at 238,362 dito ay nasa Middle East.
Sa Disyembre 2020, ang bilang na ito ay aabot umano sa 609,317 at sa Hunyo 2021 ay 846,429.
Sa numerong ito, 32,474 OFW ang nasa Asya, 170,526 sa Europa at America at 801,531 sa Middle East.
