Presyo ng CoVID test dapat iregulate ng gobyerno

DAPAT umanong i-regulate ng gobyerno ang coronavirus disease 2019 testing sa bansa at tiyakin na abot kaya ito sa maraming Filipino.

Ayon kay Bagong Henerasyon Rep. Bernadette Herrera mas marami ang maipapasuri kung abot-kaya ang presyo nito kaya dapat ay magkaroon ng transparency sa halaga nito.

“Amid the urgent need for mass testing to contain the spread of COVID-19, it is important for the government to make sure that the test kits and processing fees are being reasonably priced to give access to those not eligible for free testing,” ani Herrera.

May mga ospital at laboratoryo umano na naniningil ng P8,150 sa bawat COVID-19 test.

Nagtataka naman si Herrera kung bakit ganito ang presyo ng package ng Philippine Health Insurance Corp., samantalang ang Philippine Red Cross ay naniningil lamang ng P3,500 sa kanilang real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PRC) test.

Naniniwala ang House deputy majority leader na masyadong mataas ang presyo ng ilang laboratory lalo at ang locally-developed GenAmplify test kit ay nagkakahalaga lamang ng P1,320 at ang laboratory fees ay naglalaro lamang sa P2,000.

Sa isang pagdinig, sinabi ni Health Sec. Francisco Duque III na ang presyo ng COVID-19 ay naglalaro sa P2,710 hanggang P8,150. Mas mababa umano ang presyo kung ang gagamiting test kit ay donasyon.

Iginiit ni Herrera na ang pag-regulate sa presyo ng test ay saklaw ng Bayanihan to Heal as One Act (RA 11469).

Sinabi ni Herrera na mahalaga na marami ang ma-COVID-19 test upang makontrol ang pagdami ng sakit.

“Widespread testing allows us to identify and isolate those who are positive and prevent them from spreading the virus,” paliwanag ni Herrera.
