Stranded na OFWs sa NCR tulungang makauwi sa probinsya

DAPAT umanong isama na ng gobyerno sa pinauuwi nito sa mga probinsya ang mga overseas Filipino workers na stranded sa Metro Manila.

Ayon kay Marino Rep. Sandro Gonzalez ang pinauuwi ngayon ng mga ahensya ng gobyerno sa probinsya ay ang mga repatriated na OFW na sumaialim na sa quarantine.

Pero marami umanong OFW sa Metro Manila na inabot ng quarantine kaya hindi na nakauwi sa kani-kanilang probinsya. Gumagastos umano ang mga ito sa pagrenta ng mga dormitoryo.

Umaabot umano sa 6,700 ang bilang ng mga stranded OFW sa iba’t ibang dormitoryo.

“Marino Party-list, through our online platform as well as our on-ground mobilization, has been getting plenty of requests from our seafarers regarding their desire to go back home to their respective provinces,” ani Gonzalez.

Mahigit isang buwan na umanong gumagastos sa matutuluyan ang mga stranded na OFW.

“We understand that the government is already doing this through its Balik-Probinsya Program, but most of those they cater to are the OFWs and seafarers repatriated from abroad. The same service should also be extended to local seafarers who have been stranded in the NCR while seeking employment or waiting for their deployment,” dagdag pa ng solon.

Nakipag-ugnayan na umano ang Marino sa Department of Transportation (DOTr), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

“When the ECQ was announced last month, our Party-list has conducted its weekly relief drives and mobilizations. We have already extended help to more than 6,700 stranded seafarers in over 30 dormitories in Metro Manila.”
