Army nalungkot, nagpaimbestiga sa pagpatay ng pulis sa dating kawal
NAG-UTOS si Army chief Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay ng imbestigasyon sa pagkakapatay ng pulis sa isang dating kawal sa quaratine control point sa Quezon City.
Inatasan ni Gapay ang tanggapan ng Army Judge Advocate imbestigahan ang pagkakapatay kay dating Pfc. Winston Ragos, at makipag-ugnayan sa pulisya, ani Army spokesman Col. Ramon Zagala.
“He (Ragos) has a disability so we want to make sure yung actions against him was forthright,” sabi ni Zagala sa isang panayam Huwebes.
Ayon kay Zagala, ikinalulungkot ng Army ang pagkakapatay kay Ragos, na na-discharge lang sa serbisyo noong Enero 2017 dahil sa sakit na post-traumatic stress disorder o PTSD.
“To a soldier, the wounds of war are not just physical but also mental and their scars are not always visible.”
Matapos aniyang malaman na may karamdaman sa pag-iisip ay binigyan si Ragos ng “complete disability discharge” na may kaakibat na pensyon at iba pang tulong mula sa hukbo.
“The Army seeks awareness on the plight of former soldiers struggling with mental problems. Even though they are no longer soldiers, they continue fighting a silent and lifelong battle,” sabi pa ni Zagala.
Una dito, inatasan ni National Police chief Gen. Archie Gamboa ang Quezon City Police District at Internal Affairs Service na magsagawa ng malalim na imbestigasyon sa pagkakapatay ng tauhan nitong si MSgt. Daniel Florendo kay Ragos.
