PPE nagmamahal sa bidding war

IPINANUKALA ng isang lady solon na gawing centralized ng gobyerno ang pagbili ng personal protective equipment upang mabili ito ng mas mura at maging organisado ang distribusyon.

Ayon kay Quezon City Rep. Precious Castelo tumataas ang presyo ng PPEs gaya ng medical suits o gowns, face shields at masks at iba pang medical supplies dahil mistulang nagkakaroon ng bidding war ang mga gustong bumili para i-donate, mga pasyente at ospital na nangangailangan at ang gobyerno.

“Prices continue to go up because donors, hospitals and even patients desperately needing them are engaged in a bidding war,” ani Castelo. “The DTI and the DOF should intervene to stop this practice.”

Dapat din umanong tutukan ng gobyerno ang mga negosyante na sinasadyang ipitin ang pagdating ng suplay para mapanatili na mahal ang presyo nito.

“Alternatively, Castelo said the government could designate a private group composed of businessmen already helping in the fight against Covid-19 to do the procurement on the same condition that it should obtain the best price and distribute the supplies at cost.”

Tanging ang mga mayayaman lamang umano ang nakatitiyak na makakukuha ng suplay kapag tumaas ang presyo nito.

“I don’t want to imagine what would happen to poor patients and frontline health workers of hospitals with inadequate funds if they cannot buy the supplies and medicines they need,” saad ng lady solon.

Dahil sa kakulangan ng suplay ay mayroong mga doktor at nurse na napipilitang gumamit ng mga improvised PPE.
