Basurero bigyan ng hazard pay – EcoWaste

Dennis Christian Hilanga, Inquirer - April 19, 2020 - 04:49 PM

Kabilang sa apat na department secretaries na pinadalhan ng sulat ng EcoWaste sina Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Sec. Silvestre Bello III, Department of Environment and Natural resources (DENR) Sec. Roy Cimatu, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec. Eduardo Año, and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Sec. Wendel Avisado.

“As frontliners from the environmental sector in the country’s determined efforts to prevent and control COVID-19, we believe that garbage collectors are entitled to hazard pay—regardless of their employment status—due to the risks they face in the performance of essential waste management services,” sabi ni EcoWaste Coalition President Eileen Sison sa sulat.

Hinikayat ng grupo ang apat na kalihim na gamitin ang “moral suasion to strongly encourage employers of garbage collectors —be they private companies or LGUs—to grant them daily hazard pay during the ECQ period.”
