Engkwentro ng sundalo at NPA istorbo sa pagharap sa COVID-19
MATAPOS ang engkuwentro na ikinasawi ng isang sundalo at isang rebelde, umapela si Rizal Rep. Fidel Nograles sa Armed Forces of the Philippines at New People’s Army na kilalanin ang idineklarang ceasefire.
Sa Rodriguez (Montalban), Rizal nangyari ang engkuwentro na bahagi ng distrito ni Nograles.
“We need a united front if we are to survive this pandemic,” ani Nograles. “We simply cannot operate under an air of mistrust. It is counterproductive. Ang kailangan natin, total focus sa kasalukuyang kaaway, na hindi kapwa Filipino, kundi virus.”
Ayon sa ulat, tinatayang 30 rebelde ang sumalakay sa grupo ng 18 sundalo sa Brgy. Puray alas-3 ng hapon noong Sabado.
“Nananawagan tayo sa AFP at NPA—sundin po natin ang ceasefire. Mayroon tayong laban na mas malaki pa sa ideolohiya at paniniwala natin,” dagdag pa ng solon. “Hindi natin ito masusugpo kung hindi tayo magkakaisa.”
Nagdeklara ng unilateral ceasefire si Pangulong Duterte mula Marso 19 hanggang Abril 15.
Sumunod naman si National Democratic Front leader Jose Maria Sison matapos ang panawagan ng United Nations ng global truce sa gitna ng coronavirus disease pandemic.
