Unang ginto ng ‘Pinas sinungkit ng men’ s triathlon

SUBIC BAY BOARDWALK- Sinungkit ng Pilipinas ang kauna-unahang gintong medalya sa 30th Southeast Asian Games matapos muling pagharian ang men’s individual triathlon event Linggo ng umaga dito.

Nagtala ng 1:53:26 oras si John ‘Rambo’ Chicano para kubrahin ang gold medal habang tinapos ni Andrew Remolino ang karera sa loob ng 1:55:03 para sa silver medal.

Pumangatlo si Ahlul Firman ng Indonesia sa oras na 1:57:10.

Ito ang ikalawang sunod na back-to-back podium finishes ng Pilipinas sa biennial meet matapos ang gold-silver din noong 2017 SEA Games kung saan inuwi ni Chicano ang medalyang pilak.

Dinomina ng Olongapo-based na si Chicano ang 40 km bike (1:00:07) at 10 km run (31:04) habang ang Cebu-native na si Remolino ang nanguna sa 1.5 km swim (20:57).

Dahil sa panalo, nakamit din ni Chicano ang kanyang bagong personal best at nalagpasan pa ang record sa nakalipas na palaro (2:01:27).
