Pops kay Martin: Hindi na siya pwedeng magalit sa akin ngayon!

MAGKASAMA sina Pops Fernandez at Martin Nievera sa New Year event sa Solaire.

Nagkasama na uli ang dalawa sa concerts sa US and it made us ask Pops kung mapupuno ng nostalgia ang New Year show nila.

“I think it’s always nostalgic when Martin and I are together. We both don’t know what to expect the minute we’re on stage and every performance is different.
“It may be the same songs that we sing but somehow when we sing it it’s always a different approach. I guess it depends on our mood for that day,” she said.

Meron bang nagbago kay Martin? “Well, Martin, I always say this. Iisa lang ang Martin Nievera. I keep saying this all the time. Iisa lang ang boses ng Martin Nievera and I think that’s the reason why Martin is still there. When you heard that voice, you’d say, ‘uy, si Martin ‘yan. It’s very distinct and there’s only one voice like that.

“He’s still as crazy and again, if Martin is not crazy on stage, it’s not Martin. His wit, his being articulate is all part of his performance. He just got better and better.

“What has changed? Hindi na niya ako masyadong inookray. Ha-hahaha! Hindi na siya puwedeng magalit sa akin. Iba na kami as individuals,” she added.

Hindi lang ‘yan ang revelation ng Concert Queen about the Concert King, “I always says this, even during the not-so-good times, I would always say na somehow, when we’re on stage together, hindi ninyo namamalayan na we’re not okay backstage.
“There’s always magic onstage na maski na hindi kami okay ay nagiging okay kami because we’re actually doing something with a purpose – performing together. And somehow we, too, get lost in the performance na nakakalimutan namin na ‘uy, nag-away pala tayo kanina,’” she revealed.

Why were they like that? “It’s our job as a professional to forget about our worries, our anger,” she said.

Bakit ba until now ay may Pops-Martin magic pa? “I think somehow I don’t even know what it is. I think there will always be that chemistry and always that some sort of magic and it just happen when we’re both on stage.”
