Letran Knights tutumbukin ang NCAA crown

MAKABALIK sa trono ang hangad ng Letran Knights sa pagsagupa nito sa San Beda Red Lions sa Game Two ng kanilang NCAA Season 95 men’s basketball championship series ngayong Biyernes, Nobyembre 15, sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Pasay City.

Winakasan ng Knights ang 32-game winning streak ng Red Lions matapos itala ang 65-64 panalo sa kanilang series-opening game noong Martes.

Determinado ang Letran na mabawi ang korona na huli nilang hinawakan noong 2015 matapos maungusan ang San Beda sa Game One ng kanilang best-of-three series.

Nanganganib naman ang San Beda na maging ikalawang koponan kasunod ng 2017 Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates na nabigong mauwi ang titulo matapos makakumpleto ng 18-0 elimination round sweep.

“Before the Finals, I told my players to play for the alma mater. Play for the school. Lahat tayo sama-sama dito. Kung ganyan ang ilalaro nila, siyempre ilalabas ang pride nila,” sabi ni Letran coach Bonnie Tan, na inaasahan ang pagbuwelta ng San Beda para maihatid ang serye sa isang Game Three decider sa darating na Martes, Nobyembre 19.

“They are the defending champion. They are the three-time champions. They have the experience. As a coach, kailangang mag-adjust kung ano man ang mangyayari,” sabi pa ni Tan.

Sasandalan naman muli ni Tan sina Fran Yu, Jerrick Balanza at Larry Muyang para mauwi muli ng Knights ang korona.
