‘Big One’ scenario sa Metro: 52K mamamatay, 500K iba pa masusugatan
POSIBLENG umabot sa 52,000 ang mamamatay, samantang 500,000 iba pa ang masusugatan sakaling tumama ang magnitude 7.2 na lindol sa Metro Manila.
Base sa preview ng special report ng risk assessment at consultancy firm na Pacific Strategies and Assessment (PSA), posibleng magdulot din ang magnitude 7.2 na lindol sa 500 sunog at pagkawalang ng 14 porsiyento ng gross domestic product (GDP) ng bansa.
Nananatili naman ang banta ng magnitude 7.2 na lindol sa Metro Manila sa harap ng pagkakaroon ng West Valley fault line na apektado mula Bulacan sa norte hanggang Laguna sa katimugan.
“Emergency response will be delayed due to the lack of capacity in both manpower and resources and their inability to reach victims,” sabi ng PSA.
“In the initial hours of the aftermath, confusion and delay in the relay of information are expected and may persist for some days,” ayon pa sa PSA.
“There are also few open spaces in the metropolis to accommodate the influx of short and longer-term evacuees,” sabi pa ng PSA.
