Pinoy actors, filmmakers umariba sa 2019 Tokyo Int’l filmfest

NAPABILIB na naman ng mga Pinoy actor at filmmakers na nag-represent sa bansa sa ika-32 Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) ang iba’t ibang lahi matapos rumampa sa opening ceremony na ginanap sa Roppongi Hills, Tokyo, Japan.

Sa kabuuang 18 pelikula para sa exhibition category ng TIFF ngayong taon ay walong productions ang nag-iwan ng isang impressive feat para sa Philippine Cinema.

Pinangunahan nina Bela Padilla, Mara Lopez, Pinky Amador at JC Santos ang Philippine delegation sa TIFF sa procession ng filmmakers at ng mga artista noong Okt. 28.

Sina Bela at director Paul Soriano ang nag-represent ng bansa para sa World Premiere ng “Mañanita” na kasali sa Main Competition. Pinagbibidahan naman nina Mara Lopez at Pinky Amador ang “The Halt (Ang Hupa)” na idinirek ni Lav Diaz.

Kasama ni JC sa event ang direktor ng “Motel Acacia” na si Bradley Liew, producer na si Bianca Balbuena at production designer na si Ben Padero.

Kasama rin sa Philippine Cinema sa TIFF 2019 ang writer-directors na si Antoinette Jadaone, Dan Villegas at Carlo Cannu para sa “Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay.”

Ang direktor naman na si Sigrid Andrea Bernardo at cinematographer na si Boy Yñiguez ang kumatawan para sa “Untrue” na pelikula nina Cristine Reyes at Xian Lim.

Ang iba pang nakasama sa Philippine productions sa TIFF 2019 ay ang “Mindanao” ni Brillante Mendoza, “Food Lore: Island of Dreams” ni Erik Matti, at “The Entity (Kuwaresma)” na ni-represent naman ng young actor na si Kent Gonzales.

Kabilang din sa mga rumampa sa TIFF Red Carpet and Opening Ceremony ang Hollywood stars na sina Alicia Vikander at Zhang Ziyi. Co-stars sina Vikander at ang Japanese actor na si Naoki Kobayashi sa suspense- thriller na “Earthquake Bird.”

Sa Opening Ceremony, sabi ni Zhang Ziyi, ang pangulo ng TIFF 2019 Competition Jury, “Over the years, this world-class festival has consistently introduced fresh new talent to film lovers all over the world.”

Ang iba pang kasama ni Ziyi sa Competition Jury ay ang actor-producer na si Julie Gayet, producer na si Bill Gerber, at directors na sina Ryuichi Hiroki at Michael Noer. Ang TIFF 2019 ay tatagal hanggang sa Nob. 5.
