Cup noodles papatawan ng P490 tax

MAGIGING P490 ang buwis ng cup noodles kapag natupad ang panukalang P1/mg na buwis sa sodium.

Ayon kay Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Zarate magiging pasakit para sa mga mahihirap ang panukala ng Department of Health na matagal ng tinutulan sa Kamara de Representantes.

Ang sodium requirement ng isang adult ay 500mg at nais ng DoH na patawan ng P1/mg ang lalagpas dito.

“Sa Asin tax, maski end product ang bubuwisan ng P1/mg ng sodium o asin sa produkto, dahil per milligram ang kwentada nila ay napakabigat nito sa mahihirap.Maski ipataw lang ito sa ibabaw ng sodium daily dietary allowance na 500 mg per day for adults ay papatak na ilandaang piso na ang daing, tuyo, sardinas o noodles atbp.,” saad ng solon.

Inihalimbawa ni Zarate ang cup noodles na 990mg ang sodium content. Kapag ibinawas ang 500/mg sodium requirement ang matitira ay 490 mg na bubuwisan ng P1 bawat mg.

Ang isang sardinas na 610mg ang sodium ay magiging P110 mg ang buwis.

Sinabi ni Zarate na may kaparehong panukala na inihain sa nakaraang Kongreso pero sa dami ng tumututol ay binawi ito.

“Is it because it is now Halloween that the DOH is spooking us by making a zombie of the now dead and anti-poor Asin Tax?” tanong ni Zarate. “It is not the sin of the poor that they can only afford a poor people’s diet. It is their concrete present abject condition in our country that prevent them from getting healthy food.”
