Palasyo nagbanta ng gov’t takeover sa Maynilad at Maynila Water sa harap ng nakaambang water crisis sa MM

SINABI ng Palasyo na nakahanda ang gobyerno na i-takeover ang operasyon ng Manila Water at Maynilad sa harap naman ng nakaambang water crsis sa Metro Manila.

Sa isang briefing, idinagdag ni Presidential Spokesperson at Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo na gagawin ni Pangulong Duterte ang kanyang banta na gagamitin ang kanyang extraordinary powers para masolusyunan ang problema sa suplay ng tubig.

“Yes he said, ‘I will assume control,’ so that means as government takeover,” sabi ni Panelo.

Ito’y sa harap naman ng pagpapatupad ng araw-araw na rotational water interruption ng Manila Water at Maynilad sa harap ng patuloy na pagbaba ng lebel ng Angat Dam, na siyang pinagkukunan ng tubig na sinusuplay sa Kalakhang Maynila at mga karatig na lalawigan.

“To solve the crisis… ‘cause he said, ‘If you cannot solve the crisis, then I will do it for you,” ayon pa kay Panelo.

Idinagdag ni Panelo na nasa desisyon na ni Duterte kung kailangan magdedeklara ng takeover.

“Eh kung grabe na iyong water crisis, kung wala nang tubig tayong naiinom. ‘Di ba sabi niya kagabi, ‘I will not allow people not drinking water,” ayon pa kay Panelo.
