ROTC bill hindi na maihahabol sa kabila ng certification ni Duterte bilang urgent

SINABI ng Palasyo na okay lamang sa Malacanang na hindi maihabol ang pagpasa ng ROTC bill sa pagtatapos ng sesyon ng Kongreso sa kabila ng ginawang pagsesertipika bilang urgent sa panukala ni Pangulong Duterte.

Sa isang briefing, idinagdag ni Presidential Spokesperson at Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo na umaasa naman ang Palasyo na maipapasa na ang panukala sa muling pagbubukas ng Kongreso sa Hulyo.

“If it lacks time, there is another new Senate coming up so I don’t think that’s a problem,” sabi ni Panelo.

Ito’y matapos sabihin ng mga senador na wala nang oras para maipasa pa ang ROTC bill kahit pa nagpalabas ng sertipikasyon si Duterte na ginagawa itong urgent.

Kasabay nito, ipinatagtanggol ni Panelo ang pagsusulong ni Duterte para gawing mandatory ang pagkuha ng ROTC sa Grade 11 at Grade 12.

“Ayaw lang nila siguro iyon. Pero alam ninyo, in other countries mandatory iyon; dapat talaga mandatory, dapat nga—ako, I share the view that all citizens, able bodied citizens of the Philippines, male… kahit na female should be required to have compulsory military training for our own security. Pagdating ng panahon, para tayo… marunong tayo. Para sa ating lahat iyon,” giit ni Panelo.
