FREDDIE WEBB

“Freddie Webb is one of the last surviving basketball Olympians that this country has produced. It was Freddie Webb’s team who last represented the Philippines in Olympics basketball in 1972 which stands to this day.

“The Philippines has not had an Olympics men’s basketball team since then. For me, that’s already a big thing. I am talking to a legend. I am doing a program with a legend,” chika ni Boyet.

“Nag-umpisa ako sa YCO. You know how much I was getting? I’m getting P250 a month. Pero at that time, ‘yung pizza na ganoon na kalaki is worth P20.

“One day, the old man, Don Manolo, called me in his office. He said, ‘hey, my boy, I’m gonna increase your salary because I think you’ve been playing well. Binigyan ako ng P50 increase. I was happy, I was ecstatic because ang laking pera na noon. ‘Yung kotse noon at that time, mga over P1,000,” kuwento naman ni Freddie.

“They were strict with us. Swear to God, I am telling the truth. You know what they do?

“We only had two sets of uniforms, the white and the red kaya kailangan alagaan mo,” dagdag pa niya.
