SINABI ng Philippine National Police (PNP) na umabot sa 441 ang naaresto sa iba’t ibang panig ng bansa dahil umano sa pagkakasangkot sa vote-buying.
Sa isang briefing, idinagdag ni PNP chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde na sa 225 kaso ng vote-buying, walong bata ang na-rescue.
“Tama ang sinabi ng Pangulo na yung vote buying could probably be a culture in our country. If it is a culture, it is a way of life. Hopefully, maputol natin yan dahil hindi ito magandang practice,” sabi ni Albayalde.
Idinagdag ni Albayalde na hindi na nakakapandaya dahil sa vote counting machines (VCM) kayat bumibili na lang ng boto ang mga kandidato.
“Unang una automated na yung elections natin, seemingly sabi ng Comelec [Commission on Elections] yung VCM are incorruptible so the tendency yung mga kandidato is they go directly to voters that is the reason kung bakit dumadami yung alleged vote buying reports,” ayon pa kay Albayalde.
