‘Karapatan ni Agot ang makisawsaw sa politika’

FAR from being an act of pakikisawsaw siguro ang maaaring itawag sa paninilip ni Agot Isidro sa ipinangangalandakang educational background ni Imee Marcos.

Lalong it’s not politically correct—as one colleague opines—na ang pagpuna ni Agot sa claim ni Imee is indicative of her bitter sentiments.

Ginawang katatawan kasi sa Facebook ang ilan sa mga kilalang babaeng personalidad who graduated magna cum laude mula sa UP, kabilang dito’y si Agot (pero hindi niya ito ipinagyayabang).

Pagdating sa pangalan ni Imee, opposite her name is “magnanakaw.” But that’s beside the point.

Ang kinukuwestiyon lang ni Agot—and the rest of the universe—ay ang academic credentials ni Imee she herself has proudly stated: nagtapos sa UP at Princeton University with honors.

Napanood namin ang hinalukay na balita in a TV news program, hindi totoo ang claim ni Imee. Vinalidate pa ito ng mismong kaeskuwela ni Imee sa UP which was all over Facebook, citing the circumstances negating Imee’s claim.

Hindi si Agot ang nagpasimuno nito, there were people ahead of her who dredged up what lay at the bottom of what appears to be a vast ocean of Imee’s dubious school records.

At ano naman ang masama if Agot has joined the league? Hindi ba’t mas magandang lalo na-ting makilatis ang mga kandidato this election season?

Naging viral din ang teleradyo interview kay Imee sa isang himpilan with the lady reporter fishing for her comment amidst talks na hindi naman talaga siya nagtapos sa Princeton.

Nakakatawa ang paikut-ikot na paraan ni Imee in a clear attempt to dodge the question. Daig pa niya ang paborito na-ting palabok sa haba at roundabout na pasakalye na ang ending, hindi nasagot ang simpleng tanong.

Kung ‘yun ang gagawing yardstick, the Senate does not need an Imee Marcos. Proof of Imee’s premature yet seeming non-winnability is her spot sa mga surveys, lampas sa Top 12.

And she can plummet deeper into the ranking.
