PINURI ni Manila Mayor Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada si House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo na inilarawan niyang hulog ng langit sa 2,000 pamilya sa Tondo na makikinabang sa housing project doon.
Ang mga pamilya ay titira sa itatayong pabahay sa lupang donasyon ng Philippine Ports Authority na isinaayos ni Arroyo.
“Isa kang hulog ng langit sa aming mga taga-Manila Madam President,” ani Estrada, na binigyan ng pardon ni Arroyo matapos itong hatulang guilty ng Sandiganbayan Special Division sa kasong plunder.
Pumunta si Arroyo kahapon sa Zaragoza, Tondo upang saksihan ang pagpirma ng Memorandum of Understanding ng PPA at National Housing Authority sa isinagawang pagdinig ng Oversight Committee on Housing ng Kamara de Representantes.
Sa ilalim ng MOU, ilalaan ng PPA ang limang hektaryang lupa nito sa Isla Putting Bato.
Sinabi ng chairman ng komite na si Negros Occidental Rep. Albee Benitez na patuloy ang pagtatrabaho ni Arroyo upang mabigyan ng maayos na pabahay ang mga mahihirap.
“That’s the legacy of the Speaker, ensure that poor communities have the chance for a better and decent life,” ani Benitez.
