Jimmy Alapag kinuha sa San Miguel coaching staff

HINDI lamang si All-Star guard Terrence Romeo ang aabangan sa San Miguel Beermen ngayong darating na Season 44 ng Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) kundi pati na rin si PBA Legend Jimmy Alapag.

Ito ay matapos na opisyal na ianunsyo ng San Miguel Beer management Huwebes na si Alapag ay kasama na sa mga assistant coach ni Beermen head coach Leo Austria.

Si team governor Robert Non mismo ang nagpakilala kina Alapag, Romeo, Ronald Tubid at Paul Zamar sa koponan bago sinimulan ng Beermen ang kanilang team practice sa Acropolis Clubhouse.

Sinabi ni Non na matagal nang nakatutok ang San Miguel Beer kay Alapag bago pa man pumasok ang six-time PBA champion at dating season Most Valuable Player sa pro league at natutuwa siya na makasama na ang batikang point guard sa koponan bilang miyembro ng coaching staff ng Beermen.

“I’m so happy that we got him as one of the assistant coaches of coach Leo, he’d be of great help just like the other assistant coaches who made it possible for this team to win championships,” sabi ni Non.

Nagpasalamat naman si Alapag, na siya ring head coach ng San Miguel Alab Pilipinas sa ASEAN Basketball League, sa San Miguel Beer management sa pagtitiwalang ibinigay nito sa kanya para maging bahagi ng prangkisa na nagwagi ng league-best 25 championship sa PBA.

“History speaks for itself what you guys have already done in the PBA and I’m just here to help in whatever shape or form,” sabi ni Alapag na tutulungan ang Beermen na mahablot ang ikalimang diretsong Philippine Cup title at ikapitong kampeonato sa loob ng limang season.

“If you guys need me I’m here and the goal every season is to win and that’s what I’m all about,” dagdag pa ni Alapag.
