Catriona Gray gustong kuning reservist ng AFP

PLANONG hikayatin ng Department of National Defense si 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray na maging bahagi ng Philippine Army bilang reservist.

Ayon kay Defense Sec. Delfin Lorenzana, welcome na welcome si Catriona sa Armed Forces at naniniwala siya na malaki ang maitutulong ng dalaga bilang reservist.

“I’ll talk to her kung gusto niyang maging reservist. Dapat sa Army siya ah,” natawang pahayag ni Lorenzana na isang retired Army Major General.

Sa ilalim ng AFP Reservist Act of 1991, “reservists are mandated to provide the base for the e-xpansion of the AFP in the event of war, invasion or rebellion; to assist in relief and rescue during disaster or calamities; to assist in socioeconomic development; and to assist in the operation and maintenance of essential government or private utilities in the furtherance of the overall mission.”

At kung feel ni Catriona na dumalaw sa mga military camps para magbigay inspirasyon sa mga sundalo ng bansa, “It would be honor to have her visit our camps,” ayon kay Lorenzana.

Nagmarka muli ang Pilipinas sa buong universe matapos koronahan si Catriona bilang 2018 Miss Universe. Siya ang ikaapat na Pinay na itinanghal na Miss U after Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margarita Moran in 1973 at Pia Wurtzbach in 2015.

Samantala, inanunsyo naman ng Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) na maglalabas sila ng commemorative stamp ni Catriona Gray tulad ng ginawa nila sa tatlong Filipina Miss Universe winners.

Kasabay nito, bilang bahagi ng Rizal Day celebration sa Dec. 30, ie-exhibit na sa National Historical Commission of the Philippines ang mga gown na isinuot ni Catriona sa Miss U pageant na ginanap sa Bangkok, Thailand.
