Palasyo sumulat na sa Kongreso para ma-extend ang martial law
NATANGGAP na ng Kamara de Representantes ang sulat mula sa Malacanang na humihiling na palawigin ng isang taon ang ipinatutupad na martial law at suspension ng writ of habeas corpus sa Mindanao.
Sa sulat mula kay Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea sinabi nito nalimitahan ang mga teroristang grupo sa Mindanao dahil sa ipinatutupad na martial law kaya hiniling nila na muli itong palawigin hanggang Disyembre 2019.
“For all the foregoing reasons, I implore the Congress of the Philippines to further extend the proclamation of Martial Law and the suspension of the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus in the whole of Mindanao for a period of one year, from 01 January 2019 to 31 December 2019, or for such other period of time as the Congress may determine, in accordance with Section 18, Article VII of the 1987 Philippine Constitution,” ani Medialdea.
Noong Mayo 2017, idineklara ni Duterte ang martial law sa Marawi City ng sakalayin ito ng Maute Group.
Hiniling ng Malacanang na palawigin ito noong Hulyo hanggang Disyembre 2017 at noong Disyembre ay muling hiniling na palawigin ito hanggang Disyembre 2018.
