Lea Salonga sinupalpal sa isyu ng inflation: Mayaman ka kasi!

LEA SALONGA

Sinupalpal si Lea Salonga sa kanyang take on inflation.

“You gotta wonder, if you’re angry about this, we have to see if it’s happened in previous administrations before [Duterte’s time] and if we got angry then too. And if it happened before and you didn’t get angry, whew. You might have to examine why that is.”

That statement infuriated some netizens.

“Is @MsLeaSalonga sleeping? She belongs to the so-called privileged few, but I suppose it will not hurt her if she can be more sensitive to the plight of the poor; she should even be thankful for the many Filipinos fighting against the ill of this country. But, Lea is Lea,” said one fan.

One guy posted photos of protest against the Aquino government with this caption: “Nangyari rin sa past admin at kung nagalit din ba tayo noon.”

“A resounding YES! Inflation averaged only around 3% during Pnoy; yet Filipinos were enraged. For your reference, here are photos of protests vs past admins.”

Lea should realize that high inflation rate affects the poor people and not the members of higher echelons of society where she belongs. We feel that inflation rate is the standard by which government leaders should be measured. If there is a very high inflation rate, it only means that they are not concerned about the plight of the poor Pinoy. ‘Yun lang ‘yon!!!
