PLAYING his iconic role as Song Liling for the first time in “M Butterfly” and reprising it 30 years later is both a challenge for RS Francisco.

“Parehong may challenge. My first challenge noong 1990 is how to act kasi I have a 20 year relationship. So, ilang taon yun? At that time I was 18, 19, 20. We ran for two years, eh.
So, how can I have a 20 year old relationship if I was 20 year old. Paano ako naging dyowa niya, newborn? ‘Yun ang unang challenge ko.

“I have to act mature at that time. I have to act like I was forty at that time kahit I was 18. That was the challenge before. The challenge now is how do I remove the character of Song Liling like before,” he explained.
