Still waiting for the SSS pension

Liza Soriano - August 29, 2018 - 12:10 AM

Sir/Madam:

GOOD day. This is to follow up status of a letter sent by Mr. Leopoldo A. Carillo dated June 4, 2018 to Aksyon Line Bandera, asking for help regarding his claim for SSS pension which he has yet to receive yet despite repeated follow ups/inquiries with the SSS local office here in Iligan City.

I will be very grateful if you could help us facilitate verifying from SSS main office onwhat course of action or what documents should be submitted to their office for the release of his long-awaited pension.

Respectfully,

Pat Reble

REPLY: This refers to the inquiry of Mr. Leopoldo Carillo on his retirement claim.

Admittedly, there is a delay in the processing of his retirement claim due to a discrepancy in his date of birth in our records and his claim application.

Our records show that Mr. Carillo reported his date of birth as March 29, 1953 while in the supporting documents that he submitted for his retirement claim, it is March 29, 1943. Because of the non-availability of his birth certificate, Mr. Carillo submitted supporting documents such as Senior Citizen’s ID, PhilHealth MD, and Voter’s ID to file for a request for the correction of his date of birth.

We wish to inform Mr. Carillo that SSS Ozamis is currently verifying the information on the documents he submitted to correct his records with SSS.

SSS Ozamis wrote to Iligan City’s Office for Senior Citizen’s Affairs on December 9, 2015 and the Local City Registry OF Negros Occidental to verify Mr. Carillo’s date of birth.

However, SSS Ozamis is still waiting for the response of these concerned offices.

In as much as SSS Ozamis wants to expedite the process, the processing of benefit claims also depends on how prompt the concerned offices respond to our request for confirmation. We want to give our assurance that we are following up from these concerned offices their confirmation.

On the other hand, we would like to clarify that Mr. Carillo will not receive a lifetime monthly pension. Instead he will receive a one-time lumpsum benefit because he only has a total of 53 monthly contributions.

To qualify for monthly pension, a member must have at least 120 monthly contributions.
We hope we have clarified the matter. Thank you.

Sincerely yours,
May Rose DL Francisco
