Kasong murder vs Liza Maza, et al. ibinasura, warrant of arrest binawi
IBINASURA ng Palayan, Nueva Ecija Regional Trial Court ang kasong murder laban kay National Anti-Poverty Commissioner (NAPC) Chair Liza Maza at tatlo pang dating partylist representatives.
Sa kautusan na isinapubliko ngayong araw, binawi rin ni Cabanatuan Executive Judge Trese D. Wenceslao ang warrant of arrest laban kina Maza, dating Agrarian Reform secretary Rafael “Paeng” Mariano, at dating Bayan Muna House representative Satur Ocampo at Teddy Casino.
Inakusahan ang apat sa pagpatay sa mga suporter ng Akbayan partylist, na sina Carlito Bayudang, Jimmy Peralta, at Danny Felipe, noong 2006.
Noong 2008, ibinalik ni Judge Evelyn Turla ang kaso sa City Prosecutor’s Office para muling maibestigahan, dahilan para iakyat ni Maza at ng iba pang dating mambabatas ang isyu sa Korte Suprema.
Noong 2017, inatasan ng Korte Suprema si Turla na maglabas ng desisyon kaugnay ng kaso.
Naglabas si Turla ng warrant of arrest laban sa apat, bagamat nag-inhibit sa kaso.
“Considering that the evidence on hand absolutely fails to support a finding of probable cause against accused-movants, the motion for reconsideration with prayer to quash warrants of arrests is hereby granted…the instant cases are dismissed,” sabi ng korte.
