NAGBIGAY ang South Korea ng 130 police patrol cars sa Philippine National Police (PNP) ngayong hapon.
Pinangunahan ni South Korean Ambassador Han Dong-man ang isinagawang turn-over ng 49 Hyundai Elantra at 81 Starex van kay PNP chief Director Oscar Albayalde sa QCPD grandstand sa Camp Karingal sa Quezon City.
Sa isang panayam, inamin ni Albayalde ang kakulangan ng mga sasakyan para sa PNP, kung saan ilang station sa
National Capital Region ay walang police car o maging motorbike.
Bahagi ang mga donasyon sa “Enhancing the Criminal Investigation Capability of the Philippine National Police” project, na pinirmahan sa pagitan ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at Korean Embassy noong 2014.
Naglaan ang South Korean Embassy, sa pamamagitan ng Korea International Cooperation Agency, ng kabuuang $6.6 millyong para sa anim na taong proyekto simula 2015.
“Since then, the Korea and Philippines have deepened our close times in many different sectors for almost 70 years. There is no doubt Korea would be enjoying peace, democracy, prosperity without the help of the Filipino veterans. It’s time for Korea to pay its debt,” sabi ni Han.
