Wala nang nakikitang oras ang chairman ng House committee on justice para sa pagtalakay ng isasampang impeachment complaint laban kay Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales.
Ayon kay Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali hintayin na lamang ng mga kritiko ni Morales ang pagreretiro nito sa Hulyo.
“As she approaches her retirement in July 2018, impeaching Ombudsman
Morales is no longer practical and realistic,” ani Umali. “Let’s just wait for her retirement, especially now that we are very busy conducting hearings on the impeachment complaint against the Chief Justice and of course the push for federalism.”
Noong Disyembre ay may inihaing impeachment complaint ang Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption laban kay Morales subalit walang kongresista na nag-endorso rito.
Kabilang sa mga alegasyon laban kay Morales ay ang pagpabor umano nito kay dating Pangulong Benigno Simeon Aquino III na nagtalaga sa kanya sa puwesto at ang pagsasapubliko ng bank rekord ni Pangulong Duterte.
