‘Ang Panday’ ni Coco patok sa girl, boy, bakla, tomboy

ISA kami among the entertainment press who first saw “Ang Panday” which marks Coco Martin’s directorial debut.
The movie, an official entry in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival, in more ways than one, is completos recados. There’s comedy, action, drama and fantasy, ingredients which appeal to the kids and the masses kaya walang katalo-talo ito sa box-office.
As a first time director, naka-focus si Coco sa detalye ng shooting. Even to the smallest detail ay kitang-kita ang kanyang effort. Halos lahat ay malalaking eksena. Sa opening scene pa lang na kuha sa Divisoria, you will feel the stench and filth of the pang-masang palengke.
As usual, the movie is replete with action scenes which Coco is very much comfortable with. Actions scenes were grand and were executed in a manner that is how you should do it – fast-paced and full of agility.
Bilang third Flavio, mahusay na naipakita ni Coco ang kanyang millennial character. Pero hindi rin niya kinalimutan ang ibang element na nagpasikat sa “Ang Panday.”
The movie is without pretension. Magaling ang story-telling at pasabog ang mga action scenes. Jake Cuenca was the perfect foil to Coco’s Panday character. Jake had semblance of Joker character pero Pinoy na Pinoy.
The fantasy elements were all there and they were done seamlessly.
The movie is for all – bata, matanda, babae, lalaki, beki at tibo.
Go see the film and get entertained this Christmas.
